$74.47

We are excited to offer this 100% Ceremonial Grade Arriba Nacional Cacao from the mineral rich soil in BuluBulu River, Ecuador. It is produced organically by generational coop farmers who directly receive the proceeds. This rare variety is considered the origin of today’s varieties, and makes up less than 1% of Cacao production worldwide..

“The Nacional is a rare variety of cocoa bean found in areas of South America such as Ecuador and Peru. Some experts in the 21st century had formerly considered the Nacional bean to be extinct. Pure genotypes of the bean are rare because most Nacional varieties have been interbred with other cocoa bean varieties.” – Wikipedia

Description

Arriba Nacional Ceremonial Grade Cacao is made from 100% heirloom Arriba Nacional beans, widely prized as the rarest and most complex tasting in the world. Raised in the mineral-rich soil along the BuluBulu River in Guayas, Ecuador.  This Cacao is a vessel for all the abundance of the land, now available at home. Many consider this to be a replacement for their daily coffee, and has over 300 known nutritive compounds.

The beans are fermented using traditional methods, then lightly roasted to maintain their nutritional value and aromatic complexity. Top notes of floral acidity are followed by an intense earthy finish, yielding a deliciously grounding Cacao experience.

Simply the best Cacao we’ve ever tasted. We think you’ll agree.
